Volkmarshausen is a district of Münden, situated on the right side of the river in the Weser Valley.
In the 16th century, there were several mills in Volkmarshausen - a beating mill, an oil mill and a paper mill, which were driven by the water power of the Schedebach stream.
These mills later developed into the industrial area in the Schedetal. It was not until the 1980s that a second industrial area was created, which today is used as a location for many companies from industry, trade, crafts and services.
Forest and cycling idyll
Volkmarshausen is embedded in the Bramwald forest. The Schede, a 13 km long tributary of the Weser, runs through the Schede valley and flows through the village.
The Weser-Harz-Heide cycle path passes through Volkmarshausen. Extensive hiking tours, for example on the Studenpfad X13, past the Klusteichen, are possible from here.
