Samtgemeinde Dransfeld

Dransfeld

Dransfeld is located northeast of Hann. Münden and lies at the foothills of the Bramwald. First mentioned in a document in 960, Dransfeld can look back on a history of more than 1050 years. Dransfeld offers motorhome travellers excellent camping sites. In addition, the member municipality of Jühnde is Germany's first bioenergy village.

The Hohe Hagen (508 m) in the Dransfeld municipal forest is a mountain of volcanic origin and one of the highest mountains in the Münden Nature Park. Hiking trails, open-air pools, a forest swimming pool or designated areas for naturism are attractions for holidaymakers. With the bioenergy village of Jühnde, the joint municipality of Dransfeld is in the focus of those who want to learn about regenerative energy.

Hiker's paradise

Dransfeld, in the middle of the Münden Nature Park, is an ideal starting point for hikes through a landscape of open meadows and pastures, forests and themed hiking trails. For example, the Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage trail runs here.

Bioenergy Village Jühnde

The bioenergy village of Jühnde was the first village to generate its heat requirements and all the electricity needed for all inhabitants using the renewable and CO²-neutral energy source biomass, in this case, energy crops in the form of silage and woodchips.

The energy plant consists of a biogas plant and a biomass heating plant. A local heating network brings energy to the households. Guided tours of the energy plant are available. During this tour, the visitor gets an insight into the workflow, the technology as well as the plant cultivation and the development process starting from the founding idea up to the bio-cooperative for the whole village.
