Magic lights in Hann. Münden

The half-timbered and three-river town of Hann Münden, located in the GrimmHeimat of North Hesse and the beautiful Weserbergland region, is worth a visit at any time of year. While in spring and summer it is nestled in the green forests of the Münden Nature Park on the rivers Weser, Werra, and Fulda and attracts numerous cycling and hiking enthusiasts, in winter a cozy flair unfolds in the picturesque old town. For many years now, the Ferry Gate Tower has been transformed into a 40-meter-high Christmas candle, illuminated in red and with a yellow flame visible from afar, to set the mood for Advent. The Christmas street lighting and an avenue of lovingly decorated fir trees in front of the shops in the city center complete the Christmas setting.

This year, another attraction joins the Christmas ensemble - for the first time this winter, sparkle and glow will accompany visitors to Hann. Münden. During the winter months, the Christmas illuminated streets in the town center will be complemented by artfully arranged light sculptures, which will create true light experience spaces at selected places in the old town.

Larger-than-life, three-dimensional sculptures and trees wrapped in fairy lights transform the old town into a sparkling winter wonderland. Beautifully illuminated half-timbered gables and windows framed with fairy lights make the centuries-old half-timbered treasures shine in a special glow. The water theme, which has always been very important in Hann. Münden is taken up at the scene square behind the town hall. The light installations not only make your eyes light up but also create a cozy atmosphere for a winter stroll through the old town. After a warming stop in a café or restaurant, the exploration tour can be continued well fortified and new light spots discovered.

Thus, further light installations can be admired at the goat market in the lower area of Lange Straße and Christmas light elements along the promenade at Dielengraben.  From there, the tour continues towards the Wallanlage. As you stroll through the park, glittering trees wrapped in fairy lights line the path and there are nature and animal elements to discover at selected points.

Visitors should not forget to pack a camera for their winter outing to capture the glow of the lights in great pictures for friends and families left at home!

Until the end of January 2021, the Lichterzauber will be on display in Hann. Münden and allow visitors to explore the magical goings-on on site.
