Many themed hiking trails cross in Hann. Münden, such as the Werra-Burgen-Steig and the Märchenlandweg. Through important nature reserves, along old paths and past castles, palaces, monasteries and half-timbered towns, you will experience a varied landscape. Enjoy the peace and actively relax in nature.

Weserbergland Trail XW

The Weserbergland Trail begins in Hann. Münden and leads through the Weserbergland to Porta Westfalica. A journey along with the Weser past romantic palaces, castles, historic old towns as well as wildlife parks and primaeval forests. The trail is certified as a Wanderbares Deutschland quality trail.

Werra-Burgen-Steig X5H

The Werra-Burgen-Steig leads through the three federal states of Lower Saxony, Hesse and Thuringia. The Hessian section was voted Germany's second most beautiful hiking trail in 2016. It starts in Hann. Münden, past Berlepsch Castle, Ludwigstein Castle and Rothestein Castle to Tannenburg Castle near Nentershausen.

Pilgrimage Route Loccum-Volkenroda

The Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage trail takes you along the old tracks of the Cistercian monks. With the new trail, the old connections between the monasteries in Loccum and Volkenroda are revived. Discover a piece of the past and make a pilgrimage past numerous monasteries, ruins and idyllic places.

Frau Holle Trail

The historical hiking trail refers to the work of the Grimm brothers. Coming from Bad Karlshafen, it crosses Hann. Münden and continues over the Hohe Meissner in the Frau-Holle-Land Geo-Nature Park.

Fairytale land path

The hiking trail invites you to experience the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and local legends in northern Hesse and the southern Weserbergland. Hikers discover castles, castle ruins, monasteries, half-timbered towns and many fairytale and legend figures along this route.
