Gimte, a former fishing village on the right bank of the Weser, is a district of Hann. Münden.

Gimte, a district of Hann. Münden is rich in finds from early prehistoric times. The first written mention of the fishing and rafting village of Gimte is in 970 AD as "Gemmet". Ten years earlier, the Hilwartshausen monastery, which was always important for the development of Gimte, was mentioned in a document. The village thus looks back on a history of well over 1000 years.

St. Mary's Church

On 01.07.2006, St. Mary's Church celebrated its 1000th anniversary. Clubs and associations that foster the village community shape cultural life.
