Historic Werra Bridge
From the Werrabrücke bridge, set off in the direction of the first vantage point at Kattenbühl. From there, the trail continues through the Kaufung forest towards the small village of Bonaforth. This used to be known for its rich clay and loam deposits, which were used for the production of bricks and tiles.
Cross the large Fulda lock to reach the other side of the river and then climb along with the former barracks to the Tillyschanze, one of the most prominent vantage points over Hann. Münden.
In addition to the incomparable view, you can fortify yourself for the next stage in the small forest restaurant in Reinhardswald.
The descent from the Tillyschanze is followed by a crossing of the Weser and another ascent with views over the district of Gimte. The fishing and rafting village on the Weser can look back on a history of over 1000 years.
Arriving in the Bramwald, the path leads to the Weserliedanlage (Weser song site), where you not only have a wonderful view of the confluence of the Werra and Fulda rivers and the Weserstein (Weser stone), but can also find the text of the Weserlied written in 1835. From here, you return to the starting point via the Hermannshagen district and the new Werra bridge.
