The official start of the Weserbergland hiking trail starts at the Weserstein, steeped in history, which marks the beginning of the Weser River through the confluence of the Werra and Fulda rivers in Hann. Münden.
From there you walk over the blue suspension bridge into the Fischerweg. At the end of the path, keep to the right. Cross the road and follow the zigzag path uphill into the Reinhardswald forest to the Tillyschanze, an observation tower high above the roofs of the town.
The Weserbergland Trail is well signposted. On your route you come to a really beautiful vantage point overlooking the Weser Valley with an inviting rest area.
The trail continues to Vaake, one of the two districts of Reinhardshagen. Follow the path towards Veckerhagen, the end of the 1st stage.
