The island of Doktorwerder is located in the immediate vicinity of the old town.

From the old, stone Werra bridge, the path leads through an archway directly onto the Doktorwerder, a small, idyllic island situated in the middle of the Werra.
Sculpture park
On this green oasis stands the monument to the founding of the Central German Singers' Association in 1839. Numerous sculptures by the Münden sculptor Wüpper (1911 to 1995) form a small sculpture park.
Theme trail
The "Water" theme trail created as part of Expo 2000 can be visited, as can the art project "3 Rooms - 3 Rivers" accompanying the Expo.
