A circular trail through a low mountain landscape, fields and mixed forests.

This circular trail leads through a low mountain landscape with fields and mixed forests to the natural monument "Quarzitblockfeld" (quartzite block field), where arrowheads from the Middle Palaeolithic period were found. In the surroundings of Hemeln, along the Frau Holle Trail, circular paths of various lengths invite you to explore the fairytale landscape. Finds of burial mounds prove that the settlement of Hemeln and its surroundings began as early as around 1600 BC. The village of "Hemlion" was first mentioned in writing in 834. With its location on the Weser ford and the historic mountain paths, Hemeln had a supra-local significance. Enjoy the wonderful views of the Weser Valley on the circular trails around Hemeln! This circular trail leads through a low mountain landscape with fields and mixed forests to the natural monument "quartzite block field", where arrowheads from the Middle Palaeolithic period were found. The silicified quartz sand served Stone Age people as a substitute for flint, which does not occur in the region. Stop to tread water at the Teehäuschen shelter!
