Medieval Village Steinrode

Short facts

  • Hann. Münden
"The medieval model village of Steinrode will be open to spontaneous visitors one Sunday a month from March to October. All other uses are only possible by prior booking. For more information, please visit our website(www.steinrode.de).

The buildings - church, kitchen, smithy, wood workshop, servants' quarters and the large bailiff's house - in the medieval model village of Steinrode are arranged around the village square. Everything can be seen from the watchtower. Here, children and young people can playfully relive everyday life in the past.

The model village is not a museum, but a special place of learning where schoolchildren can understand history, experience sustainability and learn about natural cycles, where they can directly experience that raw materials are not infinite and where they can try out how diverse renewable raw materials can be used. Located in the middle of the forest, there are plenty of opportunities for experiences with and in nature.

The sponsor is Libellula, an association for environmental education and forest education in schools."
