Dransfeld is located north-east of Hann. Münden and lies at the foothills of the Bramwald.
Dransfeld was first mentioned in a document in the year 960 and thus looks back on a history spanning more than 1,060 years. Various lodging options are available for RV travelers. The Dransfeld joint municipality also includes Jühnde, which became known as Germany’s first bioenergy village.
The Hohe Hagen is located in the Dransfeld municipal forest and rises to a height of 508 meters. The mountain is of volcanic origin and is one of the highest peaks in the Münden Nature Park. Around Dransfeld, hiking trails and other recreational activities invite visitors to explore the surrounding area. These include, among other things, outdoor swimming pools, a forest swimming pool, and designated areas for naturism.

Dransfeld is located in the Münden Nature Park and offers various opportunities for hikes through forests, meadows, and pastures.
Several hiking trails wind through the surrounding area. These include the Loccum–Volkenroda pilgrimage route, which runs through the Dransfeld region.
Jühnde Bioenergy Village
Jühnde became known as Germany’s first bioenergy village. Energy is generated in the town from sources including biomass. For example, energy crops in the form of silage and wood chips are used.
The energy supply system includes a biogas plant and a biomass heating plant. The heat generated is transported to connected households in the town via a local heating network.
