Dransfeld

Short facts

  • Dransfeld

Dransfeld is located north-east of Hann. Münden and lies at the foothills of the Bramwald.

Dransfeld was first mentioned in a document in 960, which means that it can look back on a history of more than 1060 years. Dransfeld offers motorhome travellers excellent camping sites. Also, the member community of Jühnde is Germany's first bioenergy village.

The Hohe Hagen (508 m) in the Dransfeld municipal forest is a mountain of volcanic origin and one of the highest mountains in the Münden Nature Park. Hiking trails, open-air swimming pools, a forest swimming pool or designated areas for naturism are attractions for holidaymakers.
Hikers' Paradise

Dransfeld, in the middle of the Münden Nature Park, is an ideal starting point for hikes through a landscape of open meadows and pastures, forests and themed hiking trails. The Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage trail, for example, runs through here.
Jühnde Bioenergy Village

The bioenergy village of Jühnde was the first village to generate its own heat and all the electricity required for all inhabitants using the renewable and CO²-neutral energy source biomass, in this case, energy crops in the form of silage and woodchips.

The energy plant consists of a biogas plant and a biomass heating plant. A local heating network brings energy to the households.
