After a break of several years, a sporting highlight is returning: the Münden Old Town Run will take place again on October 11, 2025. The new organizing team led by Münden runner Martina Eickhoff has set itself the task of reviving the popular running event and is looking forward to offering a varied programme for sports enthusiasts of all ages.
Long break and new start
The last time the traditional Old Town Run took place was several years ago. At that time, the long-standing organizing team around Holger and Martina Liese withdrew, and the corona pandemic prevented a timely restart. However, the regret of many former participants about the end of the run gave Martina Eickhoff the idea of bringing the event back to life. Together with a motivated team of running enthusiasts and the support of TG Münden, the event is now being relaunched.
A run for everyone - program and rankings
On October 11, 2025, runners will be able to compete on various routes. In addition to the 5 km and 10 km runs, which are aimed at amateur and competitive athletes, there will also be children's runs on the program. In addition to the individual classification, the 5 km course offers a so-called stack classification, which is intended to motivate large running groups in particular. For ambitious athletes, the 10 km course offers a team classification in which teams of three people - at least one of whom must be a woman - compete.
Part of the South Lower Saxony Cup
The Münden Old Town Run is integrated into the renowned Southern Lower Saxony Cup, which is an additional attraction for ambitious athletes. The route through the picturesque old town of Hann. Münden promises a special running experience.
Joint project with strong support
The organization team was able to fall back on proven structures: TG Münden is once again the organizer, supported by the city administration and Mündener Stadtmarketing GmbH. Mayor Tobias Dannenberg and the board members of TG Münden, Thomas Scheffler, Reiner Schmitz and Martin Gronemann, expressed their enthusiasm for the revival of the run.
"We hope that many Münden citizens will join our enthusiasm and take part in the run or support the event as spectators," emphasizes Martina Eickhoff.
