14. Big Jump 2027

In 324 days

Short facts

The Big Jump is an initiative of the European Rivers Network (ERN) and has been held across Europe since 2002. Its goal is to reconnect people with their rivers and increase public pressure for clean, accessible waterways. In Hann. Münden, river swimming has enjoyed great popularity for years—among both the general public and environmentalists.

At 2:00 p.m., participants will enter the water at the legendary Weserstein (river km 0.0) and swim approximately 9 kilometers downstream to the Vaake district in the Weser municipality of Reinhardshagen. They will exit the water at the boat dock on the left bank (river km 9.2).

The event is not a competition, but a community swim for environmental protection. Safety is the top priority: The entire route may only be swum while accompanied by experienced lifeguards. Professional safety support is provided by the Hann. Münden Technical Relief Service (THW), the DLRG from Reinhardshagen, and the DRK Water Rescue Service in Kassel.
