"It is a custom from time immemorial, whoever has worries also has liqueur"
The fateful picture story "Die fromme Helene" ("Pious Helen"), funny on the surface but just as tragic in depth, is still one of Wilhelm Busch's most popular tales today.
Look forward to a cheerful but also thought-provoking late spring afternoon at the Liederhof in Hemeln with the reading duo Wilder Mohn, accompanied by Stefan Kienzle on saxophone and Dieter von Borstel on guitar.
Wilhelm Busch, a native of Lower Saxony, achieved worldwide fame with the bitterly wicked pranks of Max and Moritz and the alcoholic life of the pious Helene. And even today, the story about the eventful life of the not always so pious Helene is well worth listening to.
