Short facts

Karen Joisten reads from her new book stolperungen
Musical accompaniment by the Yellow Fields Trio

The Kunst Netz e.V. invites you to a reading by Karen Joisten, musically accompanied by the Yellow Fields Trio. Karen Joisten and Johannes Eichhorn, who plays the electric guitar in the trio, are board members of KunstNetz e.V. and dedicate themselves creatively to literature, art and music.
Karen Joisten is an author and philosopher and artfully combines truth with fiction in her texts. Her latest book, stolperungen, is a collection of short texts that encourage readers to adopt perspectives that differ from their usual ones. When people are exposed to strange and new impressions, they can stumble. Suddenly they are irritated, astonished, delighted, happy or horrified. Such vividly written stumbles open up the possibility of freeing oneself for a brief moment from everyday habits, seeing everyday things with different eyes and perhaps even changing oneself.

Karen Joisten's place of well-being is Hann. However, she lives in Kaiserslautern for professional reasons. There she is a professor of philosophy with a focus on the ethics of digitalization.

The reading is accompanied by the Yellow Fields Trio: jazzy music with acoustic instruments complements the reading and supports the listener's thoughts and associations. It is often driving rhythms that are presented by Johannes Eichhorn (electric guitar), Philipp Becker (electric bass) and Lorenz Schuster (cajón). Original compositions are in the foreground, establishing the special music of the Yellow Fields Trio.

Literature and music alternately complement each other in a creative way and give rise to stumbling blocks: unique and special moments that influence the progression of life.

The event will be hosted by Friedhelm Meyer.
