When Carola Justo begins to apply paint to a white surface, she proceeds like a gardener sowing seeds: in the first, randomly placed, rough brushstrokes and splashes of paint, she recognizes hinted forms and structures, which she gradually takes up or discards, expands or covers over. In this way, the picture grows, just like a garden that is tended and shaped by a gardener. Fantastic, fairytale-like landscapes with plants, birds and houses emerge, which continue beyond the sky, then dimly in airy heights, as if in another sphere.
Carola Justo is showing a selection of these pictures from June 22 to August 24 in the St. Blasius Church in Hann. Münden, entitled: "In the Gardens of Fantasy". The opening will take place on Sunday, June 22, during the church service at 10 am. Afterwards, the exhibition can be viewed in the church daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 24, admission free.
