DenkmalKunst – KunstDenkmal

In 8 days

Short facts

The DenkmalKunst - KunstDenkmal festival will take place for the 7th time from 1 to 9 October 2022.

The festival DenkmalKunst - KunstDenkmal (DKKD for short) puts listed buildings in the old town of Hann Münden in the limelight. Under the motto "Open the door, let the art in, be thrilled!", visitors are given access for nine days to houses and monuments that are normally inaccessible or not very accessible. Local, national and international artists show their paintings, graphics, sculptures, photographs and installations in historical buildings, churches, towers, cellars and courtyards, visual art from figurative to abstract. This creates a great artistic variety in an extraordinary ambience and also on walls, squares and the three rivers of the half-timbered town.

The exhibitions are open on all festival days from 11 am to 5 pm. In the evenings, music, theatre, cabaret, readings, film, performances, actions and the now legendary DKK disco will attract visitors to the old walls and special locations of the old town, with around 50 evening events planned.

The first artists have been confirmed!

The organisers are looking forward to seeing Dean Hills and Charlotte Schütz, among others, again in the visual arts, but also to many regional and national artists as well as many first-time participants. A total of about 130 visual artists will be taking part, 85 of them regional. In addition to painting in various techniques and styles, there will again be object art made of stone, wood, metal, ceramics, natural materials, fabric and paper. Abstract works are represented as well as figurative ones.

In the evening programme, festival guests can expect, among other things, a reading by Wladimir Kaminer, an animated film show by Oscar winner Thomas Stellmach, the Kassel jazz formation Level Eleven, fat groove with Cissy Strut, a band from Hanover and Hildesheim, the Australian singer-songwriter Jaimi Faulkner, indie pop from Marburg with the band Einsneunzig, the cabaret artist Yves Macak with his programme "R-Zieher - Echt jetzt?!", the quintet Spark, which puts classical works in a fresh context, the group GlasBlasSing, which plays music on bottles, and the Rostock guys from the band Lappalie with folk, punk and ballads. And more events are in the pipeline!
