The Whitsun handball tournament of SV Schedetal Volkmarshausen has been held on the "Roter Sand" sports ground since 1964. Every year, around 100 national youth and senior teams compete against each other on six grass pitches and the beach court. Holding an event of this size requires a great deal of organization and is a good advertisement for the handball division.
"Whitsun" has a long tradition not only among many Volkmarshausen residents. The participating clubs with teams of every age group travel from all over Germany to take part in this handball event.
