The ensemble's extensive repertoire includes wind music from five centuries. In addition to original compositions from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, the programme also includes arranged works as well as premieres and first performances of compositions written especially for this quartet. The majority of the arrangements are by the ensemble's founder and leader Jörg Richter himself.
The four musicians are convinced that the trombone is more suited than almost any other instrument to both old and new music, including jazz. One ideal that is particularly close to the heart of the OPUS 4 quartet is the typically soft trombone sound.
